2007 Employees Of The Year
Dr. Jon Cordeiro and Mr. Ronald P. Kamp were recently selected as 2007 employees of the year at the Masonic Medical Research Laboratory. Dr Cordeiro joined the Laboratory in Dec. 2001. "Jon is an excellent choice", said Dr. Charles Antzelevitch, Executive Director. "He is very congenial and most helpful to his co-worker as well as an excellent mentor to students. He volunteered to take on the additional responsibility as chair of our safety committee which oversees policy and safety procedures for the facility. This award is a tribute to a most deserving member of our staff. " Dr. Cordeiro grew up in London, Ontario, Canada. He obtained is his BSc (Honors) in Pharmacology & Toxicology from the University of Western Ontario and his PhD in Pharmacology from Dalhousie University. In 2007, Dr. Cordeiro either authored or co-authored 6 full length manuscripts in high ranking journals such as Circulation, American Journal of Physiology and the Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology. He lives in New Hartford, NY with his wife and 2 children. Mr. Ronald Kamp joined the MMRL as Director of Development and Communications in 1984. According to Antzelevitch "the MMRL has benefited tremendously from Ron's talents and we have seen our institute grow both in prestige and in its base of support during his tenure. He has served the Laboratory with pride and distinction for over 23 years, always ready, willing and able to do whatever was needed to place the Laboratory and the achievements of our scientists in the limelight. He has demonstrated a level of professionalism that is truly outstanding and is most deserving of this honor." Mr. Kamp grew up in Syracuse, NY and resided there until shortly after being employed by the MMRL. He is a graduate of Kent State University, where he majored in elementary and secondary education. He travels throughout the United States representing the MMRL. Mr. Kamp lives in New Hartford, NY with his wife Barbara.
