Welcome
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Masonic Medical Research Laboratory's homepage. Our website is designed to highlight the importance of basic medical research and to provide our visitors information about our institute's long-standing commitment to research, training and education. Our facility is unique in that it is one among relatively few institutes worldwide with a consistent and concerted focus on bridging basic and clinical science, and thus accelerating translation of basic findings to therapies and cures at the bedside. Our studies are focused on correlating genetic, molecular and electrophysiological findings with the signs and symptoms of disease in patients in the clinic with an eye toward designing specific treatments and cures for these diseases. This type of approach is gradually transitioning us from a society in which treatment is empiric and guided by symptoms, to therapy that is based on intimate knowledge of the cause of disease and specific measures to correct the malfunction. Pushing the envelope is a term that is often used but nonetheless is extremely applicable to medical research. It is necessary to push the limits of medical and scientific knowledge if we are to have hope for major advances in the diagnosis and treatments of disease. Every medical discovery creates a new level of knowledge and a vantage point that may serve as a springboard for future advances. Our ability to forge new frontiers in the fight against heart disease is in direct proportion to the resources that are made available. Help us push the envelope a little further. Millions cling to the hope that laboratories, like ours, can provide the breakthrough needed to save a life or improve the quality of life. Please consider a gift to medical research that benefits life when making your charitable tax-deductible donation(s). Another important way to help ensure the health of future generations is to include the Masonic Medical Research Laboratory in your Will as an unrestricted legacy or contact the Development Office at 1-888-888-6675 if you are interested in one of our unique named gift opportunities. |
