UTICA- The Masonic Medical Research Laboratory in Utica will soon make a $2.75 million to their facility and equipment.

The state contributed $550,000 while officials with the lab provided the rest.

The second and third floors of the building will soon have new cardiac research equipment that officials hope will help save lives. They also said this new equipment will bring in about 10-15 jobs with some of those being top notch research positions.

“We’re going to bring in a new director of research, and it’s important that we have an updated facility, even where the animals are kept as well as the mice and the fish and so it’s important that this project gets done very quickly,” said David F. Schneeweiss, board president for the Masonic Medical Research Lab.

Construction starts Monday June 26th, and is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
